The Catenian Association
Monmouth Wyedean Circle 374 www.monmouthwyedeancatenians.com
The Catenian Association provides some 10,000 practising Catholic laymen and their families with friendship, social activities and support.
A local Circle of the Catenian Association, formed by parishioners of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Monmouth, was inaugurated in April 2016. There are currently 21 members. In normal times they meet at the Forest of Dean Golf Club on the third Thursday each month, afterwards sharing a meal. They have continued to meet virtually on Zoom during the 2020 restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
They are joined by their ladies at approximately half of these dining occasions, and families are especially welcome at external social visits.
Catenians are committed to their faith, their families, those in need and support each other. They develop life-long friendships, support Catholic youth through a Bursary Fund, and run a national speaking competition for Catholic Secondary Schools with locally held heats, offer careers advice and support their clergy and University Chaplaincies. Each year the fund gives cash grants (with nothing to repay) of over £100,000 to young Catholics nationally between the ages of 16 and 24, who work as helpers on Diocesan and HCPT pilgrimages to Lourdes or volunteer to work on projects around the world.
Any interested Catholic laymen wishing to learn more about joining the Catenians should contact Robert Derricott on 01600 716385.
